In this article we are going to discuss some interesting facts about the worldwide search engine Google. Google has been become part of life as we are using for day to day activities. Life without Google may become very hard to live until unless new technology overtook this company product.

1.       Company revenue has been on the rise since the inception of the company. In FY Year 2002 company revenue were $0.2 Billion and in FY 2021 company reported revenue of $256.74 billion revenue.

2.       In the company revenue major part of revenue came from advertisement. Out of $256.74 billion revenues $209.49 billion revenue are generated from advertisement alone.

3.       The company was started by Sergey Brin and Larry Page in 1998.

4.       Both of partners met by chance Larry Page was 22 years old and Sergey Brin,21 years old when they first time. Larry Page has completed his computer engineering degree at the time and looking to get Ph.D. from Stanford University from where Sergey Bin already doing his Ph.D. and Sergey Brin was given a job to show the University campus to Larry Page. This is first time they met.

5.       Google first name was BackRub. In Year 1996 both the partners joined to form the Web Crawler concept which they named as Backrub.

6.       On 15^th Sept. 1997 they registered their Domain Name as Google.

7.       They have taken the Name from Googol which is mathematical representation of a Numeral followed by 100 zeros.

8.       Google has daily more than 3.6 billion searches a day.

9.       On Dec-2021 Google accounts for 85% of market share and thereafter Bing 7% and Yahoo 2.85%.

10.   On Google you can search for your data from over 3 billion websites.

11.   Google can search your data within half a second.

12.   More than 50% on google ends without a click on search results.

13.   Google Doodle which is quite popular which shows images of some famous personalities or some events worldwide . Their first Google Doodle was Burning Man Stick Figure which indicates that Page and Bin are shipped off to Burning Man festival. They created the same in August 1998.

14.   They started their company in September 1998 from Garage of Susan Wojcicki which was located in Santa Margarita Ave, Menlo Park.  Susan Wojcicki was also working with Google as a Marketing manager and now she is CEO of YouTube.

15.   Susan Wojcicki is the sister of Anne Wojcicki which is founder of 23andMe.

16.   Google product of GMAIL.COM was launched on 1^st April 2004 i.e. on April fools day. On May 2021 no. of GMAIL users worldwide were 1.8 billion. You can see the popularity of Google from this.

17.    Google works on Technology naming as PageRank. In this technology a give a value of relevance to a particular website which shows how much important is that website. The name is given after name of Larry Page.

18.    In Year 1997 Google approached Yahoo for selling their company for mere $2 millions but Yahoo doesn’t accepted that offer and in Year 2002 Yahoo tried to buy the Google for $3 Billion but this time now Google refuses. They must be regretting the same for lifetime that why they haven’t accepted their offer that time.

19.     In Year 2020 google was available in 149 languages. Google Translator is able to translate up to 133 languages.

20.   Google launched their IPO on 19^th August 2004 at $85 per share and sold about 22.5 million of shares and raised an amount of $1.9 billion.

21.   In Year 2014 Google stock was split into ration of 1:1.

22.    Google share has been closed at $2246.23 per share on dated 27^th May 2022, Now imagine how much returns it had given over the period of time, don’t forget about the split and dividends given by company.

23.   In Year 2015 Google changed the name to Alphabet. They changed the name in order to diversify into other businesses. Alphabet consists of search engine Google, robotics, anti aging, healthcare, Life sciences.

24.   Market capitalization of Google is  now $1.48 Trillion.

26.   Android Inc. was founded by Rich Miner, Andy Rubin, Nick Sears and Chris White in Palo Alto, California in Oct.2003  which was later acquired by Google in Year 2005.

27.   Google first logo was designed by Brin using Free image editor called GIMP.

28.   YouTube was purchased by Google for $1.6 billion on 9^th October 2006. It is contributing to 11% revenues of Alphabet.

29.   YouTube was founded by Jawed Karim, Steve Chen, and Chad Hurley.
