Incentives
offered by Government on Electric vehicles:-
Popularity of electric vehicles has been increasing in
India from past 2 years due to increased government focus towards electric
vehicles in order to reduce the increasing pollution level in India. As per ANI
data on 3rd August 2022 no. of registered electric vehicles in India
are 13, 92,265 which is as per data obtained from Ministry of road transport
and highways. There is more than 3 times increase in sale in FY 2021-22 in
comparison to FY 2020-21 when sale was 1,34,460 nos.
There are varieties of schemes under Production linked
incentive and other benefits have been offered by government in order to boost
production of electric vehicles. Few of them are as below:-
(i)
On 12th
May 2021 government has started PLI scheme for companies for manufacturing of
ACC called as advanced chemistry cells in County itself in order to bring the
cost of battery in country. As batteries are main cost component of electric
vehicles
(ii)
GST has
been reduced on electric vehicles from 12% to 5%.
(iii)
GST also
reduced on chargers and electric vehicle charging stations from 18% to 5%.
(iv)
Further
Ministry of road Transport and Highways also called as MoRTH has exempted the
electric vehicle from permit requirements.
(v)
MoRTH also
issued notification to states to waive off the road tax on Electric vehicles.
Government is also working on either waive off of 100%
toll tax or 50% toll tax on electric vehicles.
Electric vehicle no. plates are now in green for
demarked separation from other fuel vehicles. It is also under proposal for
free parking for electric vehicles for 3 years. Further it will be made
mandatory for allocating 10% space for parking electric vehicles in commercial,
offices as well as residential areas.
Electric
Chargers:-
Now you can estimate from above that how bigger will be the demand of
electric vehicles and so as the increasing sale of electric chargers. There are
so many varities of chargers available in the market.
There are two types of chargers available in the
market:-
(a)
Slow
chargers
(b)
High speed
chargers
Now lets discuss about these chargers:-
(a)
Slow Chargers:-
Slow chargers work on Alternating current (AC) i.e.
you can directly plug the charger from available electric source and these
chargers are usually 3 pin plug chargers and they have capacity of 3 KW. Only
required is 15A power point for charging of vehicle through that charger.
(b)
High speed chargers:-
These chargers uses both AC or DC source for charging
of vehicle. These chargers are available up to rating of 350 KW. These chargers
are also called as CCS i.e. combined charging system. There are 2 types of
charging sockets which support these chargers i.e. two pin charging port or
three pin charging port.

DC Fast
charger- 50 KW to 180 KW

DC High
