Interesting facts about Nirma and AMUL brands

 

Nirma Detergent: -

We have all seen the girl picture printed on Nirma brand surf packet, we have also seen the advertisements in past showing girl in white dress revolving around and around. There is story behind that girl is that the girl shown on Nirma Surf packet is actually daughter picture. Her name was Nirupama and Karsan bhai Patel, a resident of Gujarat launched that brand in year 1969 by her name. As short of name of Nirupama was Nirma.





Karsan Bhai had so much expectations from her daughter that she do well in her studies but as dreams of every person couldn’t be fulfilled ,Nirupama died at very young age and Karsan bhai Patel missed her a lot and get shattered by this incident so he decided to make her immortal by printing picture of her on Nirma Surf brand.

Nirma started selling their surf at as low as Rs.3.5 per kg in comparison to other surf power providers which provide surf at Rs.15 per kg. Nirma now days and older days was used by low income group. As prices were low it started selling in market like hot cakes. Karsan Bhai puts his effort of 3 years in preparing the formula for Nirma surf.

Now in Year 2021 Nirma Surf powder was clocking revenues of more than 500 crores.

 

AMUL Brand:-

Every household knows the name of AMUL brand for using their various milk products. But everyone knows about what is full form of this company name.

AMUL full form is- Anand Milk Union Limited

This company was started in year 1946 by Mr. Tribuvandas Patel under guidance of Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.  This company is Managed by Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (GCMMF).  Dr. Verghese Kurein Joined AMUL in 1949 which brings White resolution in the country. AMUL clocked turnover of 392 Billion Indian Rs. In FY 2021.

The AMUL girl which appears on AMUL products was first introduced by AMUL in Year 1966.  The girl was created by Sylvester daCunha (daCunha Communications) to overcome the completion and popularity of Polson Dairy girl a locally owned dairy in Anand.



There is following share of AMUL in different products:-

1.       Butter market- 85-88%

2.       Cheese market- 65-67%

3.       Infant Milk- 63-65%

4.       Dairy Whitener- 44-45%

The present AMUL girl cartoon was drawn by Jayant Rane.

There is one more interesting fact about the company is that daCunha started a compagin highlighting day to day issues in form of cartoon which is also registered with Guinness world record for longest running campaign in the world.
