Screen time is world problem:-
·
Screen
time has become a worldwide problem, especially since the advent of smartphones
and other digital devices. People of all ages, from young children to adults,
are spending more and more time in front of screens, whether for work,
entertainment, or socializing. While technology has undoubtedly brought many
benefits to our lives, excessive screen time can have negative effects on our
physical and mental health, as well as our social and cognitive development.
Excessive
screen time effects on Physical health:-
One of the most obvious problems associated
with excessive screen time is the impact on our physical health. Sitting for
long periods in front of screens can lead to a sedentary lifestyle, which in
turn can lead to obesity, diabetes, and other health problems. In addition, the
blue light emitted by screens can disrupt our sleep patterns, making it harder
to fall asleep and stay asleep, which can lead to fatigue and other health
problems.
Excessive
screen time effects on Mental health:-
Excessive screen time can also have negative
effects on our mental health. Studies have shown that people who spend more
time on social media and other online activities are more likely to experience
anxiety, depression, and other mental health problems. In addition, excessive
screen time can lead to feelings of isolation and loneliness, as people spend
more time interacting with screens than with other people.
Excessive
screen time effects on social and development:-
Screen time can also have negative effects
on our social and cognitive development. For children, excessive screen time
can delay language development, reduce social skills, and limit creativity and
imagination. In addition, excessive screen time can lead to poor academic
performance, as children may struggle to focus and retain information. For
adults, excessive screen time can lead to a lack of productivity and reduced
creativity, as well as decreased ability to focus and retain information.
Excessive
screen time effects on Enviornment:-
Another problem associated with excessive
screen time is the impact on our environment. The production and disposal of
digital devices, such as smartphones and computers, contributes to the
pollution of our environment. In addition, the energy required to power these
devices, and the infrastructure needed to support them, can have a significant
impact on our carbon footprint.
Despite the negative effects of excessive screen time, it can be
challenging to reduce our screen time, as technology has become an integral
part of our lives. However, there are steps we can take to reduce our screen
time and mitigate its negative effects. For example, we can set limits on our
screen time, prioritize activities that do not involve screens, such as
exercise and outdoor activities, and engage in activities that promote social
interaction and creativity.

The
average screen time in the world varies by region and age group, but it is
estimated that people spend an average of 7-9 hours per day on screens,
including computers, smartphones, tablets, and televisions.
Country having highest screen
time in the world:-
As for the country with the highest screen time, there isn't a
definitive answer as there is limited global data available on this topic.
However, according to a 2021 survey by Statista, the country with the highest
average daily time spent on the internet via any device was the Philippines,
with an average of 10 hours and 56 minutes per day. It's important to note that
this doesn't necessarily equate to screen time, as people may also use the
internet for activities that don't involve screens (such as listening to
music).
India
Ranking in terms of screen time worldwide:-
According to a report published by the market research firm, eMarketer,
in 2021, India ranked third globally in terms of average daily time spent using
digital media devices, behind only Indonesia and Brazil.
The report states that the average time spent by an adult in India on
digital media devices such as smartphones, tablets, and computers was around 4
hours and 37 minutes per day in 2021. This represents a significant increase
from the previous year, when the average time spent was around 3 hours and 41
minutes.
Reducing screen time can be
beneficial for both physical and mental health. Here are some ways to reduce
screen time:
1.
Set a
goal: Decide on a specific amount of screen time you want to cut back on,
and make a plan to achieve it.
2.
Use
screen time trackers: Use apps or features on your devices that track your
screen time to get a better understanding of how much time you spend on
screens.
3.
Create
tech-free zones: Designate areas in your home, such as the bedroom or
dining room, where you don't use screens.
4.
Take
breaks: Take frequent breaks from screens, especially during long periods
of use, and use the time to engage in other activities, such as going for a
walk or reading a book.
5.
Replace
screen time with other activities: Find other activities that you enjoy,
such as exercise, crafting, or spending time with friends and family, and
replace screen time with those activities.
6.
Set
boundaries: Establish rules and boundaries for screen time, such as no
screens during meals or after a certain time in the evening.
7.
Practice
mindfulness: Be mindful of your screen time and how it affects your mood
and behavior, and make adjustments as needed.
Remember, reducing screen time doesn't have to be all or nothing. Small
changes can make a big difference, so start with what works for you and build
from there.
