Aurangzeb-Interesting Facts

 ·         Aurangzeb original name was Muhi-ud-Din Mohammad.

·         He was emperor of India from 1658 to 1707.

·         He was third son of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal was built in the memory of Mumtaz.

·         His Great Grandfather was Akbar and Grandfather was Jahangir.

·         He imposed Jizya Tax on Hindus in name of providing protection to them.

·         Aurangzeb was brutal among all emperors as he converted Hindus into Muslims. His brutality can be also seen from below facts:-



(a)    He killed his own brother Darah Shikoh and gifted the mutilated head of Darah Shikoh to father shah Jahan in Jail.

(b)   He imprisoned his own father Shah Jahan in Agra prison and he never visited during his imprisonment for 8 years and not even attended funeral after death.

(c)    He even imprisoned her own daughter and even kills his own son. His son was son in law of Shah Shuja (Brother of Aurangzeb)

(d)   He even betrayed his own brother Murad and later on killed him.

(e)   He even killed innocent children of Shri Guru Gobind Singh, which were aged just 7 and 9 years as he tortured them to change the religion. He keep on torturing them for 7-10 days in extreme winter season without cloths and food. However, he failed against their determination and which leads to Martyr of 2 sons and 80 years old grandma.

·         He was born in 1618 in Dohad (Gujarat).

·         He died in year 1707 in Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra.

·         During his rule in India, he made his empire largest economy in the world and even surpassed Qing China. His empire called as Mughal Empire was having GDP of 90 billion Dollars at that time.

·         He banned Gambling, Consumption of Alcohol and Pre-Marital Sex.

·         His brother naming as Shah Shuja ran away to Burma in fear of being killed by Aurangzeb.

·         He do not build so many Monuments as was done by his predecessors, as he does not like to spend money on frivolous things.

·         He died of natural death.

·         He destroyed 15 temples during his rule and constructed more temples than he destroyed.

·         He brutally executed second Maratha Chhatrapati Sambaji in 1689. Sambaji was son of Chhatarpati Shivaji Maharaj.

·         He captured Ninth Sikh Guru-Shri Guru Teg Bhadur Ji as they opposed forced conversion of Kashmiri Brahmins into Muslims. Then they were brutally executed them by beheading him at Chandni chowk. Gurudwara Sheesh Ganj in Delhi is place where 9th Guru beheaded.  

·         Once Naga Sadhus defeated Aurangzeb as Aurangzeb wants to loot the temple Kashi Vishwanath temple in 1664. Naga Sadhus Slaughtered Mughals and fearing of which Aurangzeb moved back. It cannot ascertained that  was Aurangzeb was there in battle but Gyanvapi mosque that was built by him in 1669 makes everyone believe that he was in the battle of Kashi.

·         Aurangzeb get sick after reading Jaffarnama, which was sent by 10th Guru Shri Gobind Singh Ji, and never, recovered. After reading that letter he got aware of his past life started hating himself doing most such wrong things during his life.
